What holds your nation together?

"Gov't or peoples cultures were bound together by the loved things shared in common." Spoken by Augustine Bishop- South Africa (350-430 AD)

"As a nation we are held together by the love of freedom, or the belief of being free. Freedom of speech, religion, work, owning property, education, and enterprise. As soon as the foundation is torn apart and rights are striped away-our nation will cease to exist and a new one will stand in it's place." -By Carolyn Converti

Chapter 6: The Early Middle Ages

The Birth of Europe (476-1000) Here are some questions presented in this chapter:

* How did Germanic migrations contribute to the fall of the Roman Empire?

* How did Islamic culture influence the West?

* How did the developing Christian Church influence Western society during the early Middle Ages?

* How did the reign of Clovis differ from that of Charlemagne?

* What were the characteristics of a feudal society?

Welcome to Humanities
Humanities is a study of every culture and their religion. We learn when religions were introduced to different areas of the globe and the affect the religions had on traditions, governments, and war. We understand in greater depths how different religions have had a lasting affect on cultures. We often talk about the Islamic religion and the affect it has had on the traditions and governments of the Middle East. We have talked about when the Islamic religion was founded and why. We have also had deep discussions on the abuse of women in the Islamic countries and how far family members will go to keep their families' honor intact. I hope you will enjoy this journey with me and will learn lots of interesting facts. Carolyn
